VCAP NEWS

Thanks for voting in the Local 2250 elections. Congratulations to the newly elected and re-elected officers. There will be a run-off vote on May 9-10 4:30 AM – 4:30 AM.

Congratulations to Brad and Lauren on their recent marriage. We wish them the best.

The RTW notaries are in different stages of completion. A few of us will have our supplies by early next week. We should be able to have the circulators start soon after. Our goal is to have as many members (and families) sign the petition as possible.
I plan to attend the next couple of retirees meetings to pick up signatures there.

We are winding down on the T-shirt sales. We plan to be done by the end of May.

Soon we’ll be doing the VCAP Cruise/Hunt ticket sales. Volunteers will be needed to make this a successful year. Extra tickets can be earned by the sellers.

Next CAP meeting is May 11 at 6:45AM, 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM at the hall.

From the UAWire: If the AHCA becomes law, DC politicians will give the wealthy and well connected huge tax breaks at the expense of our UAW bargained healthcare benefits, while stealing money from the Medicare trust fund. The AHCA will also allow insurance companies to deny healthcare coverage to people with preexisting conditions and charge older Americans higher premiums. It would also force drastic cuts to Medicaid, including long-term care for America’s seniors.
We need your help to stop this threat to all UAW members and their families.

VCAP – Voluntary Community Action Program

The UAW VCAP check-off is a voluntary program that allows each member to make a modest contribution each month. These contributions help your union support candidates that care about American workers and their jobs.

By law, union dues cannot be used to support any federal candidate, and in an ever-increasing number of states, any candidate for public office. Our only means of monetary support for many labor-endorsed candidates is voluntary political contributions, which are put into the International Unions Political Action Fund, UAW V-CAP.  As of 2016, corporation PAC’s outspent the Unions in PAC contributions by those 20 to 1 odds.

Help protect your collective bargaining gains by contributing to the UAW V-CAP.
